Step 9:

The speeds of these hulls are increasing That's why I decided to laminate the complete hull. My experience is that in time the thin plywood will otherwise crack.















After I laminated all surfaces with glass cloth, I applied another layer of epoxy on the hull with a filt roller. It works great! The epoxy fills the glass cloth structure and makes the hull skin nice and smooth again.



I suspended the hull on the transom, so I can epoxy the complete hull at once.





Finally I wet sanded the hull. I am happy with the result, the glass cloth cannot be seen anymore.

I am now working on the strakes. After that I can apply the paint on the hull. Only the temperature should rise, because it's still freezing cold here!

Step 10

De overhangs are done. I made them from oak strips. They are strong and dense, so they can take a beating.

The inner overhangs are 27cm long and the outside overhangs are 23cm long. The width is about 8mm. Maybe a little too big, but otherwise the will become very thin.

The length is chosen in such a way that the overhangs cover the flat/level part of the hull and then follow the hull arc for another 5 centimeters.

After finishing the overhangs I put another layer of epoxy on the hull.

Step 11

The hull got it's colors

I started with a white base coat:



Then I covered the pattern:

And put the color on!

A lot of tape work for a small black line:

And the result so far:

The bottom of the hull still needs paint. The logo/name stcikers are ordered and the VO-27 sticker I already have. Finally I will apply some clear coat on the hull to finish it off.

The gas lever is also finished:
